My heart’s desire is to live a healthier lifestyle…
I have stuffed as much information into my brain as I could glean from the web, books, and anything healthy that crosses my path. I have such passion and hunger to live a clean and healthy lifestyle that it is overwhelming and guilt inspired at times.

However… (voice wavers)
I have yet to accomplish this healthier life! I share some of the same excuses below that you might also struggle with
Our excuses start with:
  • No willpower,
  • Too many time constraints,
  • Not convenient,
  • Costs money,
  • And many other factors that are waiting in line to keep us from being our healthiest selves. Not only do we struggle with the above road blocks, some of us might not even care to make the effort to be healthy… at all!

Until… we get sick! Then we drag out the cold medications, vitamins, orange juice. We start juicing and gulp down beet juice and a swig of kale, or seek out the newest trend or remedy presently on the market.  We bombard our poor neglected bodies with everything under the sun in hopes of a miracle, but not JUST a miracle, a miracle in record time, ”miracle”.

Does this make sense to you?

*Heaven forbid if it’s much more serious then flu, cold or a simple sore throat…
*Heaven forbid if it’s something so life threatening that it turns our lives upside down.
  • Maybe we could rethink how important willpower really is in the life of “healthy” maybe then we could muster some of this willpower by something so simple as exchanging chips or soda for some nice fruit or vegetables.
  • Or maybe we could take the time to prepare healthier food and live a healthier lifestyle for ourselves and our children.  I know that these changes are not convenient but neither is a life threatening illnesses that will affect your whole family.
  • Last but, not least is the money.  Yes, healthy, organic, and fresh is expensive. But why not be the best you can be!  Consider the possibility that spending a little more right now could possibly save on medical bills in the future.

One idea -    Plant a garden, “farm to table.”

Life deals us many hands and I’m not saying that all of the above will save you from everything.

What I am saying is IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

I’m in!  Are you?

How will you start? What will you do for yourself or family? Your first steps?
Please share in the comments below…

                            Recipe: Green Sangria

Fill your tea pot with 4 cups of water and heat till boiling.
Remove tea pot from stove and add 6 teaspoons of loose green tea (using an infuser) to boiled water
Steep for 3-4 minutes then remove the tea filled infuser from water
Add approximately 1/3 cup honey to your now brewed tea
Let the tea cool then add lemon wedges, mint leaves, or anything your heart desires

Last but not least; add a bottle of your favorite white wine, stir…
 Enjoy!

Ohhh the chilly weather is upon us. Time to stock up on your favorite tea flavors!

Using pre-bagged tea sacs are a convenient and easy way to prepare a quick cup of tea. Simply plop the tea sac into your favorite cup, and add hot water and presto change-O, you have a cup of tea! It kind of reminds me of fast food drive-ups doesn't it? You drive up… place your order and within 5 minutes you have your food. But, all of this fast, fast stuff...is it GOOD for you? Fast foods are highly processed foods and are lacking a lot of the vitamins and minerals your body craves and needs. Sometimes foods are so processed that they have been stripped of many essential food nutrients. The food companies actually have to replace and supplement by putting the vitamins back into the product...   I realize “fast” is what we strive and expect. And when we don't receive fast, we get impatient. But does “fast “really add benefit to our well-being? Wouldn't slowing down benefit your overall health? Simplifying your life could be the easiest beginning, to a healthier you.  Preparing a (non-processed) family meal  together is not only nourishing for your family, but it also promotes connecting, communication, as well as balancing your lives as a family.

Another wonderful way to a healthier you… Taking the time to slow down and prepare a good cup of tea! Make the whole concept of brewing loose tea a lifestyle.

Think about this...preparing the tea (I’m not talking about the run of the mill “old tea sac” (processed) kind), but the idea of brewing "loose tea". Have you ever looked at loose tea - colorful and vibrant?  You are actually witness to what you are about to enjoy and when you add the hot water, the leaves plump and unfold. Just think of it? Serene, relaxing, taking the moment.

And the added bonus! Are you ready? Loose tea is fresher (limited processing).  Loose tea is so much more alive than the ground up stuff you find in processed tea sacs.

So there you have it…slow down, eat fresh foods and connect with family.  Start enjoying the simple pleasures in life, make subtle changes to your lifestyle, its as easy as brewing a hot cup of "loose leaf" tea.

Let's help you http://wwwthetippinteacup.com get  started!

Your Immune System Comes First

Your Immune System Comes First
The ending of summer is not too soon to start ramping up your immune system this fall!
Having a strong immune system helps your body fight against cancer, colds and flu and an array of autoimmune diseases.
I’m going to make this short and sweet, so you can get started!
  • Eat fruits and vegetables:  we had a lovely summer filled with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Hang onto some of this bounty to carry you through the winter by canning, freezing or drying. Love your family and yourself by providing homemade foods. They are the best and you know exactly what’s in it, right!? Or if you’re short on time; go organic, buy local, farm to table, great options, as well.
  • Exercise: great way to exercise is to start walking, start off slow…Don’t give up when the cold weather arrives, dress appropriately and keep on TRUCKIN’. Invite your kids or pets to join you on your walks. It instills a healthy lifestyle, for both.
  • Stress:  Let it go, let it go! Stress is like taking a brillo pad to your insides, so you can just imagine what it’s doing to your immune system! Self-talk works wonders depending on your level of stress. Exercise is the best aid when feeling overwhelmed.
  • Drink plenty of fresh water: Bottled water isn’t the best for a person but it better than some tap waters. If you can afford to have your water tested, the test results will give you a feel for the appropriate filtration system to purchase and install. I believe that to be your healthiest option.
  • Ban the processed foods from “entering your pantry!” Just don’t purchase it! There are so many delicious and fast ways to eat healthy without tearing open the cardboard/plastic box.  If you need your meals fast, then make it a healthy, simple meal or plan ahead and freeze your meals. I make a huge amount of steel cut oats, freeze them in a cupcake tin. After they are all frozen transfer them into a freezable container.  (see recipe on the next page)
  • Stay clear of cigarette smoke: Back away from the smoker.  Second and third hand smoke is toxic; there is no getting around it. * 2nd hand smoke is when you inhale the smoke of the smoker. *Third hand smoke is when they aren’t smoking, but the smoke has lingered on the smokers clothing or other items.
  • Drink lots of tea: Green tea (all varieties), Chamomile Tea and Protect Your Immune System tea are just few of the endless options.  Tea or herbal blends, are also just packed with antioxidants to boost your body’s defense!
  • Last but not least: Purchase your tea in loose leaf form. It tastes better and fresher. Tea can help you with your stress, help you get your daily intake of water, and boost your immune system. Perhaps the most important benefit is the antioxidants that teas provide as a gift to you!
I hope you found this information of value and that I have helped you and your family to be stronger, healthier and happier people!

Make Ahead Steel Cut Oatmeal
  • Cook steel cut oatmeal as the package suggests, you can also purchase, steel cut oatmeal in bulk.
  • Spray cupcake/muffin tins with coconut spray or a healthy oil, lightly.
  • When oatmeal has cooked to your liking, fill each tin with oatmeal and freeze.
  • Make as many tins as you have oatmeal.
  • After Oatmeal in tins has frozen, tap each tin lightly and the frozen oatmeal will be released.
  • Collect them all and put into a freezer container.
  • When it’s time for breakfast, collect your frozen steel cut oatmeal and heat as you desire.
  • Top with fruit, sweeten with honey and drowned with almond or rice milk,
tah dah healthy is served!

The Tippin Tea Cup began over 6 years ago, brewed from my personal love of tasty tea that I developed from sheer interest. That love grew into a strong desire to learn more about the benefits and natural healing qualities that come from herbs, spices and their endless combinations to create high quality tea blends, undisturbed by fillers or artificial flavorings.
Over the years, The Tippin Tea Cup has given my family and I the great joy of meeting new people, hearing their stories and how tea becomes a daily ritual or a special gift for a lifelong friend. This is what excites me and keeps me striving to develop the best, mostly delicious tea I possibly can.
